  1. Sunshine salad, Watergate salad- good salads with jello. Not as savory- but you can still find them at many Midwest church potlucks and holiday tables. My mom made a sunshine salad- orange jello with mandarin orange pieces and shredded carrots that was topped with a unsweetened whipped cream and shredded cheddar cheese. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  2. People in the 1950s were more active than this generation. Half of American businesses were still living in rural America. You can eat more fats, butter, eggs, red meat. Lots of hi energy and sugary still. Great video

  3. The meat circle sounds good. Maybe you could substitute like diced, peeled or crushed tomatoes instead of the artificial pizza sauce. It might be worth a try.

  4. I lived through the fifties and never ate any of these fonky recipes. They were usually contrived meals devised by marketing executives at food companies to try and sell product. Kraft used to have some disgusting recipes with mayonaise and miracle whip or jello to increase sales. They were tried once and forgotten when the household cook found out the family hated the revolting messes. There were sometimes when your crazy Aunt with no kids would make a nasty jello salad that she found on a box for a family dinner. You would have to find a way to dispose of it without her knowing.

  5. I love ๐Ÿ’˜ your videos ๐Ÿ“น Jessica. Could you please do 1.) Making 1950's dresses from scratch, 2.) Hair bows and ribbons ๐Ÿ‘’ ๐ŸŽ€ tutorials, 3.) Closet tour 2020.

  6. For a really good summer dessert, prepare the jello according to directions. When it is set, mix it with vanilla ice cream and put it back in the freezer. leave big chunks of jello and the ice cream (No making ice cream soup lol.). you can use strawberry jello, and strawberry ice cream, etc. for a nice change. Its really good.

  7. My dad likes the jello ones he use to eat them so much from what my mom says he still likes it just doesnโ€™t eat them as often as he use to but my mom and me just gave him a look like ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘„๐Ÿ‘

  8. I few up in fifties and never heard of this junk. We had plain jello but meals in the fifties did not have all the preservatives and were mostly fresh veggies and good meat, like ham or chicken. Please donโ€™t believe this crap. By the way Iโ€™m from nc
